If a bolt is loose, you could lose it (especially chrome ones)

If you have a Virago 250, you might recognize the large allen bolt in the picture as the bolt that attaches the rear fender to the frame.  This bolt is almost black, so I polished mine – it was stubborn so I have spent … Continue reading

The cheap Virago 250 “2-to-1” exhaust mod – no parts needed except exhaust clamp, reduces exhaust system weight from 6.2kg (13.6 pounds) to 3.63kg (8.0 pounds)

I modified the XV250 exhaust by cutting the lower muffler about 13mm or 1/2 inch after the back cylinder pipe junction, cutting the top muffler at 273mm or 10 ¾ inches, and then joining the two together, so I no … Continue reading

The stock sprockets on the Virago 250 are 16 teeth (Front) and 45 teeth (Rear). Yamaha sells this model worldwide; the gearing is probably fine for some areas, but for travel on “high” speed paved roads, in my opinion the … Continue reading

Better Performance for the Yamaha Virago 250

Here is my opinion for better performance on the Virago 250: Do sprocket change to 17/38, 17/40, or 17/42, etc..  If you drill or remove your baffles, have carb rejetted.  If you need a tire don’t go bigger than … Continue reading
